The National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek was visited by researchers from the Seismotectonics Laboratory of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Michigan State University - Senior Research Engineer Daniel Burk and Associate Professor Kevin J. Mackey.

Guests from the United States held talks with NUUz professors Dilshod Atabaev and Abdulla Kushakov. Within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation between the Navoi branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National University of Uzbekistan, the chairman of the Navoi branch Abdurazak Mirzayev was also invited to the meeting.

After discussing the prospects for further cooperation, including the organization of online lectures, the participants of the meeting, together with doctoral students and young researchers of the domestic university, went to the training ground of the Aksak-Ata NUUz, which is located in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region. Here they installed an American-made seismometer, operating autonomously on solar panels, which will transmit data to the base in real time.

The parties also discussed the possibility of installing such seismological equipment in the Kyzylkum mining region.
