European Geosciences Union awards Dr. Jeffrey Freymueller the Vening Meinesz Medal for 2024
The European Geosciences Union (EGU) has named the 52 recipients of next year’s Union Medals and Awards, Division Medals, and Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards, and our very own Dr. Jeffrey Freymueller is one of the recipients! The individuals awarded are honoured for their important contributions to the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. They will be celebrated during the EGU General Assembly this April.
Dr. Freymueller has been nominated and will receive the Vening Meinesz Medal for his leadership in GPS, geodesy, and geophysics over the last 25 years. His research contributions have been recognized internationally by his election as Fellow of the International Association of Geodesy (2011), American Geophysical Union (2014), and most recently, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (2019). In addition to his research, Jeff Freymueller has played a key service role in geodesy. Over the years he has taken on leadership roles for the IAG, AGU, EarthScope, and UNAVCO. He has advised and mentored many students and postdoctoral scholars that are now active researchers in Europe, North America, and Asia.
Congrats Dr. Freymueller!
