This speaker has been canceled due to weather.

Our guest this week is Dr. Donna Shillington of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University. Her talk is titled "Faulting and Segmentation in the Weakly Extended Malawi Rift." Dr. Shillington uses active-source seismology together with other geophysical and geological data to investigate deformation, magmatism and sedimentary processes at plate boundaries, including continental rifts and rifted margins, subduction zones, and transform boundaries. In this talk, she will present new constraints on basin and crustal structure of the northern Malawi Rift from an amphibious passive and active seismic dataset collected as a part of the SEGMeNT (Study of Extension and maGmatism in Malawi aNd Tanzania) project. This seminar will be presented Friday April 7, 2017 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in Room 204, Natural Science Building on the East Lansing Campus.
